Can you imagine your life without your best friend? We can’t either! It’s not hard to admit that we all need to have a friend who’s always there for us through the ups and downs of life. Friendships make life a little brighter, a little better, and a little crazier.

Best friends are like siblings from another mother, and the bond shared between friends is incomparable. Having that one person with whom you can share your deepest thoughts, your secrets, and your most sincere laughs is, honestly, one of the best things in life. We all need a best friend. And so do celebrities!

It’s not hard to forget that celebrities are humans just like us and that they need the same comfort and connections that we, regular people, need. Celebrities, too, need someone who they can rely on, and it probably feels nicer to share a connection with people who understand exactly what they go through every day.

In this article, we’re going to show over 40 pairs of celebrities who are best friends!

Penelope Cruz & Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz are two of the most famous actresses of Hispanic descent in Hollywood — and they’re also best friends! The Spanish and the Mexican stars first met in 2001, and their friendship is still going strong 19 years later.

Although they’ve known each other for a long time, the duo has only starred together in one movie: Bandidas. Proof that their bond is “friendship goals” is that Cruz was part of Hayek’s wedding party, and they dress up for Halloween together, as Penelope revealed in an interview with People.

Naomi Watts & Nicole Kidman

Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman share a similar journey to stardom, with both leaving Australia to become some of the biggest names in Hollywood. But there’s another thing they have in common: Nicole and Naomi attended the same high school in Sydney, and that’s where they first met.

However, their friendship didn’t take off until 1991, when they starred in the Australian film Flirting. Since then, the pair have been inseparable, always posting cute pictures together and celebrating each other’s birthdays. On Nicole’s 52nd birthday, Naomi wrote: “growing up with you, having you close, has been one of the more meaningful aspects of this journey.” Cute, right?

Vanessa Hudgens & Ashley Tisdale

Contrary to their infamous on-screen rivalry in the High School Musical franchise, Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens have always been really close off-screen. What many people think, however, is that Tisdale and Hudgens developed their friendship after meeting on the set of the movie — but that’s not how they met!

Ashley revealed in an interview that she met Vanessa when they worked together on a commercial before they got cast for the iconic roles of Sharpay Evans and Gabriella Montez. Their connection never wavered through the years, and the pair is still close to this day — Vanessa Hudgens was even a bridesmaid at Tisdale’s wedding!

Kate Winslet & Leonardo DiCaprio

It’s safe to say that every single one of us who watched Titanic has rooted for Leo and Kate’s romance to blossom off-screen as well. While that hasn’t happened, we can still appreciate the fact that these two incredibly talented actors are the best of friends in real life!

After meeting on the set of the unforgettable romance movie, Winslet and DiCaprio immediately connected and became really close. The duo never wastes an opportunity to gush about each other and how amazing they are, which just proves how strong and special their friendship truly is.

Jada Pinkett-Smith & Queen Latifah

Jada Pinkett-Smith and Queen Latifah first rose to fame when their 1996 movie Set It Off was released. They were best friends on-screen, but Jada and Queen were already friends in real life before they worked together in the film!

Pinkett and Latifah first met in Baltimore, when Jada was 15 and Queen Latifah, who was an aspiring rapper at the time, was 17. Latifah was performing, and Jada asked to meet her, and so a friendship was born.

Tina Fey & Amy Poehler

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are two of the funniest women in the entertainment industry — and they’ve been leaving their mark in Hollywood not only as individuals but also as a pair of talented women who work wonders together.

One thing is for sure: you can’t fake the chemistry that Tina and Amy have on-screen. They compliment each other so well, and they’ve been doing it since 1993 when they met in Chicago and became best friends. Poehler and Fey have collaborated on many projects, including SNL and feature films.

Sophie Turner & Maisie Williams

Game of Thrones introduced the world to unforgettable characters such as Daenerys Targaryen, Cersei Lannister, and Jon Snow. However, in addition to the grown-ups on the show, the Stark siblings Arya and Sansa also captured fans’ hearts — and the actresses who portrayed them took their bond off-screen, too!

Over the 8 years in which GoT was filmed, we’ve watched Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams grow up in front of the cameras. The pair became best friends while shooting the show, as they bonded over things such as adolescence and mental health. Their friendship is so strong that the young actresses even got matching tattoos together!

Leonardo DiCaprio & Tobey Maguire

Tobey Maguire and Leo DiCaprio share one of the most well-known friendships in Hollywood. The stars have worked together in the film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby, but the truth is that they have known each other since they were kids.

Leonardo and Tobey first met at an audition in LA when they were both 12. According to Leo, they promised they would help each other out in Hollywood — and thankfully, they kept that promise! They’re so close that both Leonardo and Tobey call each other up whenever they need advice!

Michelle Williams & Busy Phillips

Another pair of bombshell actresses whose friendship developed after meeting on-set is Michelle Williams and Busy Phillips. Though many people may not know about this, Michelle and Busy share one of the strongest bonds in Hollywood, and they’ve been best friends for almost two decades now!

The pair met on the set of the hit show Dawson’s Creek, and they immediately hit it off. According to Phillips, the two of them shared a close connection from the very start, almost like love at first sight. The actresses went on to support each other in the most important moments of their lives, including Heath Ledger’s death and Phillips becoming Williams’ daughter’s Godmother.

Taylor Swift & Camila Cabello

Taylor Swift is notorious for nurturing a large group of friendships with some of the most famous celebrities in Hollywood. We wouldn’t be surprised if most people in the entertainment industry secretly wished they could be Taylor’s friends. Camila Cabello did, and her wish came true!

Before Cabello rose to fame, she was just a regular fangirl who put up posters of her favorite artists on her bedroom walls. Taylor Swift was on one of those posters. After Camila joined Fifth Harmony, the girl group joined Swift on tour. It was then that Camila’s dream of becoming Taylor Swift’s friend came true. And they’ve been inseparable since then! What a lucky fan, am I right?

Madelaine Petsch & Vanessa Morgan

We all know that the cast of Riverdale is all about friendship and supporting each other. Among the many tight-knit relationships in the cast, Madelaine Petsch and Vanessa Morgan share one of the closest bonds. Plus, they wear matching friendship rings! How cute is that?

Image courtesy of We Heart It

Madelaine and Vanessa met during screen tests for Riverdale. Although Morgan didn’t initially get a role, the pair kept in touch, and their epic friendship blossomed. They’ve gotten so close over the years that Madelaine was part of Vanessa’s wedding party — and she doesn’t hold back when she has to defend her friend publicly.

Victoria Monet & Ariana Grande

Many people know Victoria Monét as the hit-songwriter who’s written songs for artists like Kendrick Lamar and Kanye West. What people don’t know is that Victoria is also really close friends with pop sensation Ariana Grande — the two artists have even toured together!

Monét and Grande’s friendship began before the latter had even reached the peak of her fame. Ariana was still an actress on the Nickelodeon show Victorious when she met Victoria. The two have become really close since then, and Victoria even co-wrote some of Grande’s most popular songs, such as Honeymoon Avenue and 7 Rings.

Emma Stone & Jennifer Lawrence

Emma Stone and JLaw are two of the most popular actresses of their generation. The bombshells share a similar sense of humor, and they’re both really honest, which is why the public so loves them. That’s why we’re not surprised that Stone and Lawrence are best friends.

According to the actresses, they met through mutual colleague Woody Harrelson. They told W Magazine that they texted for about a year before meeting in person. Since then, the duo has been inseparable; they hang out at each other’s houses and go on trips together!

Saoirse Ronan & Timothée Chalamet

You have probably seen Saoirse and Timothée in the same movie. More than once, actually. The young actors have co-starred in different films together, including Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird and Little Women. After working together multiple times, the pair have become great friends.

Ronan and Chalamet share many things in common, including the fact that they’re both hard workers and really passionate about their craft. The duo has proved time and time again that they’re supportive of each other and that they’re always encouraging one another to be better. And let’s not forget that they’re also hilarious together.

Anna Camp & Brittany Snow

Pitch Perfect stars Anna Camp and Brittany Snow met on the set of the musical movie, and it was a huge success. In the film, Camp and Snow’s characters were members of the acapella group Barden Bellas, and they were best friends.

Their on-screen friendship soon transferred into real life, and Anna and Brittany have remained close since the first movie of the Pitch Perfect franchise. A proof of their close bond is that Brittany was Anna’s bridesmaid on her wedding to co-star, and now ex-husband, Skylar Astin.

Drew Barrymore & Adam Sandler

We know that you know that Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler have worked together on several projects — but did you know that their on-screen chemistry is thanks to their real-life friendship? Barrymore and Sandler have been close friends for two decades, and their bond only seems to get stronger with time.

The two met on the set of the 1990s movie The Wedding Singer, and they’ve remained pretty close all this time. The actors have shown support and encouragement for each other’s careers, and Barrymore revealed that they text all the time — hopefully planning their next movie together!

Beanie Feldstein & Ben Platt

Beanie Feldstein and Ben Platt are another pair of friends who met before hitting the spotlights. The actors first met at a friend’s Bar Mitzvah and reconnected again in high school, which was when their bond became really strong.

Feldstein and Platt shared a free period in high school, so they used to hang out a lot when they were teenagers, watching plays and movies together — just like artistic friends do. The pair even attended prom together! According to an interview the duo gave to Vanity Fair, Platt asked Feldstein to prom using lyrics from Funny Girl. How sweet is that?

Lili Reinhart & Camila Mendes

Unlike other celebrities who met and instantly connected, Riverdale stars Lili Reinhart, and Camila Mendes didn’t become friends immediately. Though there was no beef between the young actresses, they said that it took a while for their bond to develop.

Lili and Camila met on the set of Riverdale. However, unlike castmates Madelaine Petsch and Vanessa Morgan, it took the duo almost a year before they finally realized that they had more things in common than they had initially thought. Thankfully, the pair became the best of friends and have given fans a bunch of sweet moments together!

Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello

Before they were one of the sweetest couples in the music industry, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello were, and still are, the best of friends. The singers met when Mendes and Cabello (who was still a member of Fifth Harmony) were the opening acts for Austin Mahone in 2014 — and they’ve been inseparable ever since!

According to Shawn, Camila was the only person who actually spoke to him on tour, and that’s partially why they became so close so quickly. The pair would hang out backstage and write songs together. Over the past few years, they openly supported each other when releasing new songs and when Camila left her former girl group.

Jennifer Aniston & Courteney Cox

You know what they say about life imitating art? Well, it certainly happened with Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox, who played best friends Monica and Rachel in the iconic 90s sitcom Friends. Even though the show ended more than 15 years ago, the actresses have remained pretty close all this time.

Aniston and Cox first met on the set of the show, back in 1994. Their bond developed and strengthened as they filmed the show, and the two are occasionally spotted hanging out and traveling together. The most significant proof of the depth of their relationship is that Aniston is the godmother of Cox’s daughter, and Courteney was a bridesmaid at Jennifer’s wedding to Justin Theroux.

Beyoncé & Gwyneth Paltrow

Not many people in this world are lucky enough to be able to say that they’re friends with Queen B. Gwyneth Paltrow, on the other hand, is one of the few people who can say that. Though their friendship may come across as unexpected, Beyoncé and Gwyneth Paltrow have been friends since the 2000s.

The actress and the singer met during a charity event back in 2006. According to Paltrow, they hit it off right away and have been close friends ever since. Although their friendship is quite private, both Beyoncé and Gwyneth have spoken highly of each other in interviews.

Nina Dobrev & Julianne Hough

Unlike most celebrities in our list who met after working together, The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev and the Dancing With The Stars dance pro Julianne Hough didn’t meet on set. The pair actually met through a mutual friend and hit it off immediately.

Perhaps one of the biggest proofs that Nina and Julianne are bonded for life is the fact that Julianne once left her own launch party to take care of Nina. The latter was going through a difficult moment in her life and texted her friend, who immediately flew to Nina’s rescue.

George Clooney & Brad Pitt

It seems almost like a dream that two of Hollywood’s most handsome men are good friends, but it’s true. George Clooney and Brad Pitt met on the set of the 2001 movie Ocean’s Eleven, and their friendship took off after that.

The actors remained close over the years, and they even worked together on other projects. George and Brad support each other’s careers, and that’s precisely what friendship is about, right? Though they keep their friendship private, Clooney and Pitt are occasionally spotted goofing around on the red carpet.

Jimmy Kimmel & John Krasinski

Jimmy Kimmel is probably one of the most beloved personalities in the entertainment industry. That’s mostly thanks to his charismatic, happy-go-lucky personality. But that’s not why John Krasinski is his friend. Their friendship is all about pranking each other!

Once upon a time, Jimmy and John were neighbors in New York, and that’s how their friendship developed. The two of them started pulling silly pranks on each other until things started escalating. Thankfully, Krasinski and Kimmel don’t take each other too seriously, proving that their friendship is as real as it gets.

Kris Jenner & Jennifer Lawrence

Despite being rather private about her personal life, there’s one thing we know about Jennifer Lawrence, and it’s that she’s friends with some of the most popular celebrities in Hollywood — Kris Jenner included. Jennifer, a reality TV lover, got invited for dinner at Kris’ house, and that’s how their friendship began.

According to Lawrence, on the first night they met, they got drunk, and she started trying on the clothes in Jenner’s closet. While this happened in 2017, the two have remained pretty close, and Kris Jenner even referred to Jennifer as her “favorite daughter.”

Eva Longoria & Victoria Beckham

Perhaps the most glamorous friendship in our list is that of actress Eva Longoria and fashion mogul Victoria Beckham. The two ladies met back in 2007 when the Beckhams moved to Los Angeles, and they have been attached at the hip ever since!

Eva and Victoria are occasionally spotted hanging out together, including during festivities such as Christmas. According to Longoria, the two of them have a lot of fun together, and she laughs a lot around Victoria. The biggest proof of how strong their friendship is is that Eva is the godmother of Victoria’s youngest child, Harper.

Liv Tyler & Kate Hudson

Almost Famous star Kate Hudson and Armageddon star Liv Tyler have a few things in common: they’re both incredibly beautiful, talented women, their parents are pretty successful, and they’re best friends. Though Liv and Kate only worked together once, their friendship goes way back.

Tyler and Hudson met for the first time before they both rose to fame. The two actresses attended high school together in California and became friends right away. Over the years, they have remained pretty close — proving that high school friendships can last forever!

Guy Fieri & Matthew McConaughey

We wouldn’t be surprised if most people considered Guy Fieri and Matthew McConaughey’s friendship, one of the most unexpected friendships ever. It seems almost comical to use their names in the same sentence, but it’s true: Fieri and McConaughey are friends, and they cherish each other very much.

According to Matthew, he saw Fieri’s show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives on TV and became obsessed with it. He managed to get Guy’s number, and the two of them had dinner together. From what McConaughey revealed in his speech during Guy Fieri’s Walk of Fame ceremony, this happened over 15 years ago — and they’re still pretty close to this day.

Selena Gomez & Jennifer Aniston

And yet another unexpected pair in our list is Selena Gomez and Jennifer Aniston. Not many people may know about their friendship, but the two actresses are actually really close. Despite their age gap, Aniston and Gomez have been hanging out together since 2014.

Back when they first met, Aniston revealed that their mutual manager had introduced them. She also said that Selena was really supportive of her. Also, according to Jennifer, the two of them hang out at each other’s houses and eat pizza together! Let’s not forget that Selena was a massive fan of Aniston in Friends. What a lucky fan!

Adele & Jennifer Lawrence

In 2013, both JLaw and Adele won their first Academy Awards. However, both women gained something else that night: a new friendship. After coming across each other, Jennifer and Adele became super close friends — and they’ve blessed us with hilarious moments since then!

Image courtesy of Jennifer Lawrence Brasil/Twitter

Jennifer has attended several of Adele’s concerts, sometimes accompanied by her other best friend, Emma Stone, and they usually go to dinner together afterward. Adele and JLaw were also spotted participating in drinking games in an NYC gay bar. The ultimate friendly gesture they shared, though, was that Adele sang at Lawrence’s ultra-secret wedding in 2019.

Jennifer Lopez & Leah Remini

Leah and Jennifer have been the best of friends for the past decade and a half. The talented women met in 2004 through Lopez’s ex-husband Marc Anthony, who was friends with Remini before dating Jennifer. The two women shared an instant connection and have remained close all these years.

According to the ladies, they’re so close that sometimes it feels like they’re sisters rather than friends. They share similar tastes, they have similar personalities, and they come from similar backgrounds — and that’s why their bond has gotten so strong. They even co-starred in a movie in 2018.

Kelly Rowland & Beyoncé

We all know that Beyoncé and Kelly were two halves of one of the biggest girl groups of all time. What many people think, however, is that the singers didn’t keep in touch after the group disbanded. The truth is that Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland have remained friends all this time.

Not only do the singers get together to perform from time to time, but they also hang out backstage with their children. Recently, Kelly was spotted wearing clothes from Beyoncé’s IVY PARK line. And Beyoncé promotes Rowland’s work whenever her friend releases new music.

Meghan Markle & Serena Williams

How many of us wished they had been invited to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s dreamy wedding? We know we did! However, not all of us were as lucky as tennis champ Serena Williams, who was one of the A-listers invited to the wedding of the year.

The internet then wondered. How do Meghan and Serena know each other? The two stars actually go way back. They met during a Superbowl party in 2010 and connected immediately. Meghan and Serena supported each other through the years — the former was occasionally spotted at tennis games, cheering for Serena.

Regina King & Gabrielle Union

Regina King and Gabrielle Union are two incredibly talented women — and unlike what society imposes on women of color, they never saw each other as rivals; instead, King and Union are very good friends, despite never having worked together.

They’re so close that, according to Gabrielle, they once went snorkeling in 2007, and she ended up nearly drowning. And guess who saved Union? Regina King. We think it’s safe to say that the two have stayed close ever since.

Ariana Grande & Elizabeth “Liz” Gillies

Before co-starring in Nickelodeon’s Victorious as Cat and Jade, Ariana Grande and Liz Gillies had already worked together on a Broadway musical called 13. The girls were about 14 years old at the time, and they’ve remained close all these years.

Grande and Gillies share a passion for music, and they occasionally upload videos where they’re singing duets or just being silly together. The actor-turned-popstar and the Dynasty actress have made it public that they have shared some critical moments of their lives together — and their bond only gets stronger with time!

Spike Lee & Samuel L. Jackson

Spike Lee and Samuel L. Jackson are two prominent names in the cinematographic industry — and they’ve been friends for over three decades! Although the two had a minor falling out in the past, they’re still really close, and Samuel even presented Spike with his first-ever Academy Award.

The duo met back in the 1970s when Jackson moved to New York City. He and Spike Lee became friendly and even worked together on a few different projects before Samuel skyrocketed to fame. Lee and Jackson also shared a cute moment at the 2019 Oscars: Spike all but jumped on Samuel when he won his award.

Mindy Kaling & Reese Witherspoon

Unlike some friendships in our list that have been going strong and steady for many years, stars Mindy Kaling and Reese Witherspoon only met in 2017. But that doesn’t mean that their bond is not stable. The actresses are pretty close — they even have nicknames for each other!

Though Kaling and Witherspoon have friends in common and had already mentioned each other publicly, they only met in person on the set of the movie A Wrinkle In Time, in 2017. They obviously hit it off right away and have remained close friends since then. According to Reese, the pair talks all the time, and there’s no drama between them.

Taraji P. Henson & Mary J. Blige

Even though Taraji P. Henson and Mary J. Blige are quite private about their friendship, the actress and the singer have been friends for a very long time. The pair have celebrated birthdays together and other important moments of each other’s lives.

Blige has spoken about her friend in the most positive light, explaining that Henson was by her side during some of the darkest moments of her life. In exchange, Mary was by Taraji’s side when she got her well-deserved star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

George Clooney & Julia Roberts

Two of Hollywood’s powerhouses, George Clooney and Julia Roberts, are living proof that a handsome man and a beautiful woman are perfectly capable of having a platonic relationship. The pair first met on the set of the 2001 movie Ocean’s Eleven and have been good friends ever since.

Clooney and Roberts have spoken highly of each other in several interviews, never failing to express how fond they genuinely are of each other. Their friendship is full of pranks and good times. They’re so close that Roberts even spent some time in Clooney’s house when she was pregnant — and then came to visit again when her children were born, proving that Clooney is close to her and her family.

Martha Stewart & Snoop Dogg

We’re aware that this is probably the most unusual friendship in our list — and in all of Hollywood. Who would’ve thought that businesswoman Martha Stewart and rapper Snoop Dogg would ever become friends? Surprising every single one of us, the pair hit it off right away after meeting and have remained really close since then!

Back in 2008, Martha invited Snoop to participate in a segment of her The Martha Stewart Show, and the audience loved their chemistry! The pair reunited again on Martha’s show and on other television programs, proving time after time that they’re good friends. In fact, their friendship is so strong that Stewart and Snoop Dogg starred in their own TV show called Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party!

Ashley Benson & Shay Mitchell

Unlike other celebrity best friends who were friends before working together, Pretty Little Liars stars Ashley Benson, and Shay Mitchell didn’t meet until they were cast for the roles of Hanna Marin and Emily Fields. The pair hit it off right away and have been best friends ever since.

Mitchell and Benson have shared many cute moments together since they became friends. Throughout their friendship, the best friends have traveled together, partied at Coachella together, and they have given us a bunch of sweet memories of ButtahBenzo, their friendship name.

Kendall Jenner & Bella Hadid

It should come as no surprise that supermodels Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid are close friends. In addition to sharing their profession, the two young women also bonded over the fact that both their families are involved in reality TV.

While most people must think that Hadid and Jenner either met through their glamorous mutual friends or during a fashion show, the pair actually met on Twitter when they were teenagers and hit it off immediately. According to Jenner, they used to hang out together all the time in high school, before both girls rose to fame.

Amy Schumer & Jennifer Lawrence

Another A-lister that is part of JLaw’s group of celebrity friends is Amy Schumer. The actress and the comedian are both hilarious women — and fate decided that they had to be friends! According to the ladies, Jennifer was the one who initiated contact, and we’re so happy she did!

Lawrence and Schumer have shared incredibly sweet moments together, from traveling together to JLaw, making a funny speech at Amy’s wedding. And if you’re still wondering if they’re truly friends, Amy and Jennifer connected in such a way that they wrote a movie together in only four months!

Cameron Diaz & Drew Barrymore

Another pair of A-list actresses who are besties behind the cameras are Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz, who co-starred in the action-comedy film Charlie’s Angels, back in 2000. Diaz and Barrymore’s friendship, however, dates from way earlier than that.

Drew and Cameron actually met for the first time in the 80s, when Diaz was still a 16-year-old model, and Barrymore worked at a coffee shop. Although they developed a casual friendship, Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore became best friends after the production of Charlie’s Angels and are still pretty close to this day — they even work out and wear face masks together!

Natasha Lyonne & Chloe Sevigny

Russian Doll star Natasha Lyonne and Boys Don’t Cry actress Chloe Sevigny share one of the deepest bonds in Hollywood. The pair of talented women met almost two decades ago when they were working together on a project. Sevigny and Lyonne have remained good friends ever since.

Since their first encounter, the two women shared public appearances several times, proving how close they are. According to Lyonne, Sevigny was really important during the most challenging phase of her life: when she was struggling with her addiction. Chloe stayed by her side and encouraged Natasha to be strong — just like a best friend would!

Jennifer Aniston & Dave Matthews

When Jennifer Aniston joined Instagram in October 2019, she nearly broke the internet! Seeing as she has always been a beloved star, mainly thanks to her time on the hit sitcom Friends, her fans were excited at the chance to interact with her on the platform.

Like with the rest of the world, Jen’s social media presence proved to be a wonderful means for her to share her life with the world, and that’s how we came to know about her close friendship with the famous musician Dave Matthews. She captioned the pic, ‘Love this man!’ which we think says it all!
